 Contact and bumping
The crowd loves it. Unfortunately our poor cars have to take the beating.
Who's been bumped into or had accidents on the track before? I know Fiero Lou will eventually post in here, he's had at least one rough experience
I've been bumped into twice. Once by an older non competitive 79 Camaro. Can't tell if it was intentional or if he just couldn't turn, but I guess there's nothing I can really do about it . Then I was bumped into by Mark D in Artie's 3rd gen Camaro last year. That one I only got a tire mark that will buff out. The other one I got a small dent and crack.
I actually have the first one on youtube somewhere. Let me try to dig it up....

this is where i will lose the race before letting someone hit me. i like my car to much to let someone hit it. if it happens then it happens but i will do what i can to keep it from happening.

I am the same way. You can see on my videos if I am on the outside I leave a ton of room. That way if they come in too hot there is some wiggle room. If I'm on the inside and get hit there is no way in my mind it was accidental and I'd be very heated.
We have one local guy here in a 79 Camaro with a reputation for hitting people. I've personally seen him hit a newer T/A, a 03 Mitsu Evo, and a fast 92 Laser AWD.
Here is a vid I found on Streetfire of him running a Neon.

 Getting hit!
Well it finally happened ! I got hit pretty good at Winchester speedway here in In. final round I broke 3rd gear in the middle of turns 1 and 2, and had to run 4th to the finish. . . the guy pulled me down the backstretch, I drove in deep beside him on the outside, and he crowded me against the wall. . . we touched mirrors actually, so I lifted . . . and crossed over behind him, and was pulling him to the finish. . . I had a half a car on him and was really holding it low. . . he had 3 car widths to race with. . . but he cut down hard on me and scuffed the door, and dented the right rear quarter. . . and he had the gall to say that he was "holding his line" Not much you can do. . . it happens. . . I would'nt have minded at all, had it really been an accident. . . I believe that you should push as hard as you can. . . and sooner or later accidents will happen. . . but it should'nt be intentional.

I was there for the laser and evo hit
And about getting hit on the inside, i got rear ended last season by the douche from TC stangs in that blue 94gt. Then he had the nerve to say that it was my fault that i got pushed up to the wall because he says i slammed my brakes in the corners where in my video it clearly shows no brake-lights.
Then he posts on TCstangs, he had to "push a slow ass camaro" out of the way. Yeah i like to see him try me this year.
He also said that the driver of the camaro is only 120lbs and he could easily kick my ass if i tried anything. Wow whats he smokin, im not 120s lbs
Btw brian, on my camera i timed (launch to turn 1) times using the timer at the bottom of my screen. Did it with my car, sellner's camaro and fasig's firebird (on full slicks). And we're all within a 10th of each other, me and the firebird actually timed slightly quick to turn 1 than sellner.

Dude that sucks. There are three people that we race with that I could see doing something like that. Are you going to call it quits or keep racing. Also are you going to fix the body. I fear it now that I can get out in front of most people we race. I'm worried that the same thing will happen to me. I'm not sure how I would handle it if it does. Also not sure if I would want to keep racing after that. I just hope it doesn't happen but its not stopping me from racing.

That does suck Evan. We got a guy like that at our local track. He loves it too. I actually had contact with him again in May. He gave me almost no room to move on the inside lane and I ended up spinning my car due to having to transfer weight too quickly in the turn, and I went into him. It's on youtube.. someone got a really good slow motion clip of it.

He told Arty to do that if he had to race you. He said if you keep him low and don't give him any room he can't stick it. That is the way him and his son drive. I guess in all it really isn't wrong. But when you are dealing with street cars its dirty. They drive like they need the money. That 100 dollar check isn't worth it to me.

 gettin hit
Hey, I saw that video bryan. . . that was close. . . I thought the same thing about him holding you down. . . I guess I'm a little biased, but he sure was crowding. . . I like to race close, but I thought you wheeled it pretty well in that race. . .
how bad was the damage to your car?
As far as being done. . . not hardly! I passed the $6,000.00 mark this year that I've won with the car, hell I only gave $4,200 for it 5 years ago. . . and it already had about $3,000 worth of goodies in it. I'll fix it up in no time. . . It's really just the rear quarter and I can fix it all here at home. . . $200 - $300 in materials and it'll look like new. . .
My worst aggrevation right now is the fact that the damn thing has the infamous "hunting idle" really bad. . . I had heard that the '94 - '95 mustangs were bad for this but damn! I'm gonna have to change a few things. . . I have to set the idle at about 1,100rpm or it just kills its self. . . I'm gonna take all the injection shit " $1,800.00 worth" off and put a damn carburator on it! The only way it won't kill it's self is with a smaller cam. . . I've tried 4 different ones. . . and I cant seem to make it run the way I want with the smaller cams. . .
Couple that with the triple disk clutch that is really grabby. . . and it's no fun to drive on the street anymore. . .
Has anyone tried a 2 disk clutch? like a Ram "assault weapond"? Are they any better?. . . I've tried 2 different quarter master's and a Tilton. . . All 7 3/4" clutches. . . My neighbor has a new Tilton 5 1/4" in his super late . . . and it's way better, as far as not chattering, and being so grabby when you're taking off. .. but I can't justify spending $800.00 on a clutch for my street car. . .
Is there a light weight "stock" clutch out there? I've got 2 aluminum flywheels just laying here now, but the stock clutches are so damn heavy!

I wish I could help you with your problems. The truth is I know nothing at all about tuning a ford. I know a few people that do Eprom burning for the old GM set ups like mine. That is the only way I've been able to keep mine running good at idle. There is a very fine line when tuning fuel injection but when you get it right it is awesome.
